The Merry Gentlemen tells the story of a Broadway dancer who creates an all-male, Christmas-themed revue to save her parents’ small-town bar. Chad Michael Murray plays the charming guy “with all the right moves,” according to the film’s description.
Regarding his revealing role, Murray shared that his wife of 10 years, actress Sarah Roemer, was “super supportive” of him being shirtless in the movie.
“She was incredibly supportive, without a doubt. She did ask, ‘I’m concerned. What are you making?’”
Murray explained, “When making a film like this, it’s a delicate balance. If you go too far, it becomes a very different kind of film. If you don’t go far enough, it loses its fun. I think we really nailed that balance,” he told Fox News Digital.
Murray expressed his pride in the film, saying, “I’m really proud of a movie you can have on in the background, and it doesn’t feel wrong. You know what I mean? It’s fun, it feels good. When my wife saw it, she said, ‘Oh gosh, you guys nailed it. You really nailed it.’”
He also shared his thoughts with Fox News Digital about the importance of keeping his priorities in check. Murray has always focused on placing God first and maintaining a strong family unit, values he believes are essential. He and his wife, Sarah Roemer, are parents to three children, and their bond as a family remains central to his life and career.
“We put God and family first—that’s what we do in this family,” Murray explained. “If that means I have to turn down a role, then I turn it down. It’s that simple. If I need to change direction, I change direction.” He added, “At the end of the day, none of this is worth it if I can’t celebrate it with my family. Period.”
