Billionaire Reid Rasner Eyes TikTok Buyout: “Not for Corporate Fat Cats—For the People”

With TikTok’s fate in the U.S. hanging in the balance, billionaire Reid Rasner is making a bold move to buy the platform for the American people—not another corporate giant.

The Omnivest Financial CEO has put forward a $47.45 billion bid to acquire TikTok from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance. The platform, valued at $50 billion, boasts over 170 million U.S. users. While other offers exist—Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian recently joined a bid with former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt—Rasner is taking his case directly to the public.

White House Engaged in Talks

Rasner told NBC News that his proposal has reached the White House, and discussions are active. “They have our bid, they have our letter of engagement, and we’re prepared to move forward,” he said. “Money isn’t the issue… they’re taking it very seriously.”

“TikTok Will Always Be Free”

Rasner launched FoundersTok, a website rallying support to keep TikTok out of corporate hands. It calls on users to pledge their support and help build a platform where content creators remain in control.

As the deadline approaches, the battle for TikTok’s future is heating up—will Rasner’s bid win out?
