Kim Basinger Breaks Silence on Alec Baldwin Years After Messy Divorce!
Once one of Hollywood’s most dramatic splits, Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin now share a much different dynamic. In a new Variety interview, Basinger, 71, revealed she has “great respect” for Baldwin, 66, despite their rocky past.
“Alec and I have a great relationship,” she said. “We don’t spend holidays together, but we talk. I wish him nothing but good.”
The former couple, married from 1993 to 2002, endured a highly publicized custody battle over their daughter, Ireland, now 29. Basinger also acknowledged Baldwin’s recent struggles, seemingly referring to the Rust shooting incident.
Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case over the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was dismissed last year due to prosecutorial misconduct.
Kim Basinger Praises Alec Baldwin’s Wife, Recalls Past Family Drama
Kim Basinger is showing unexpected support for her ex-husband Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria. In a new interview, Basinger, 71, said she has “great respect” for Baldwin and praised Hilaria for managing their blended family. “She seems to have a great handle on that. So more power to her,” Basinger said.
Her comments come nearly 20 years after Baldwin’s infamous leaked voicemail, in which he called their then-12-year-old daughter, Ireland, a “rude, thoughtless little pig.” Baldwin later apologized, blaming years of “parental alienation.” Ireland, now 29, later joked about it at her father’s 2019 roast.
Meanwhile, Hilaria Baldwin, 41, recently addressed the backlash over her Spanish heritage claims, defending her mixed accent on her new show The Baldwins. “When I mix English and Spanish, it doesn’t make me inauthentic—it makes me normal,” she said, admitting the controversy had put her in “dark places.”
