Olivia Munn Says She Rejected Million-Dollar Offer to Stay Silent on ‘Traumatic’ On-Set Incident!
Olivia Munn has revealed she was offered a seven-figure sum to stay silent about a traumatic on-set incident—but refused to sign an NDA.
The 44-year-old actor, known for X-Men: Apocalypse, said she filed a complaint with a studio and was offered a hefty payout in exchange for her silence. Speaking on Monica Lewinsky’s Reclaiming podcast, Munn recalled: “They offered me a lot of money—seven figures—to accept their apology. But it came with an NDA.”
She refused, saying, “I just felt it was so wrong.” The incident occurred during the early days of the #MeToo movement, amid Hollywood’s reckoning with workplace misconduct.
Munn recalled fearing that signing an NDA would undermine her credibility, especially during the height of the #MeToo movement. “People were targeting anyone who signed an NDA, saying, ‘Oh, you only did it for the money.’ I was afraid that speaking up would backfire and that the studio might leak that I took a payout to silence me,” she said.
Before #MeToo gained momentum, Munn was among six women who publicly accused director Brett Ratner of sexual harassment in 2017. She alleged that Ratner masturbated in front of her in his trailer when she delivered a meal on the After the Sunset set. Ratner denied the claims through his lawyer, stating that no woman had ever accused him of misconduct or received a settlement from him.
Known for directing Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand, and producing The Revenant and Prison Break, Ratner was a major Hollywood figure before facing multiple allegations.
Reflecting on the experience, Munn said, “It feels like I keep going up against the same bully who just won’t quit. You just hope enough people believe the truth and that time distances you from them.”
